Two areas: in the seaside resort of Nieuwpoort-Bad you pay in almost every street; in Nieuwpoort-Stad around the market square you park with a blue parking disc, and by the marina and the fishing quay there are large free car parks.
Season: from April to September you pay every day; the rest of the year only at weekends, on public holidays and during school holidays.
Prices: at €1 an hour and €6 for 9 hours, parking in Nieuwpoort stays affordable, and if you stay several days the daily price drops further.
Beach: want to leave the car as close to the beach as possible? See the section on beach parking below.
Free parking in Nieuwpoort
The town has laid out a number of large car parks where you do not pay anything:
Kaai Langebrug car park: on the waterfront by the Langebrug, right next to the Nieuwpoort Stad stop of the coastal tram, so you can carry on to the sea by tram.
Vismijn car park: on the Kaai by the fish market hall, within walking distance of the fish shops and the centre of Nieuwpoort-Stad.
Smokkelstraat car park: on the Smokkelstraat, a few minutes' walk from the fish market hall.
Kromme Hoek car park: along the Havengeulpromenade near the Kromme Hoek, by the marina roughly halfway between the town and the resort.
Youth and Sports Centre car park: in front of the youth and sports centre on the Dudenhofenlaan.
Lenspolder car park: by the De Lenspolder children's farm in the Elf-Juliwijk district, handy if you are visiting with children.
Free half hour: in the paid zones you can take a free 30 minute ticket from the machine, up to two per number plate per day. Even a free ticket has to be displayed behind the windscreen.
Evening and morning: charges only apply from 10am to 7pm; outside those hours parking in the paid zones is free.
Low season: from October to March, parking is free on ordinary weekdays outside school and public holidays.
Blue zone Nieuwpoort-Stad: on the Oostendestraat, the Marktstraat and the Marktplein you can park free for up to 2 hours between 10am and 7pm with a blue parking disc; a few spots have a 30 minute limit.
Parking rates Nieuwpoort 2026
On-street parking is charged from 10am to 7pm: every day from 1 April to 30 September, and from 1 October to 31 March only on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and during school holidays.
Red zone: the Albert I-laan shopping street in Nieuwpoort-Bad; €1 an hour, 4 hours maximum.
Orange zone: most streets in Nieuwpoort-Bad; €1 for 1 hour, €2 for 2 hours, €3 for 3 hours, €5 for 5 hours and €6 for 9 hours (maximum).
Purple zone: the shop side of the Kaai in Nieuwpoort-Stad; €1 an hour, 4 hours maximum.
Yellow zone: reserved for holders of a municipal parking permit, such as residents.
Several days: in the orange zone you can buy a ticket for 2 to 15 days at the machine, or a scratch card at the parking shop for up to 15 days of your choice within two months. One day costs €6, 3 days €16.50, 5 days €24, 7 days €30, 10 days €39 and 14 or 15 days €49.
Paying: with a ticket from the machine, by text message (Belgian mobile subscriptions only) or with an app such as Indigo Neo, 4411, Yellowbrick or EasyPark, so you only pay for the time you actually park.
Not paid: you are then charged the flat daily fee of €30 (9 hours in the same zone), payable within 14 days.
Paid car parks 2026
Parking Promenade: underground car park on the Dienstweg Havengeul 12A in Nieuwpoort-Bad, home to the Moovia parking shop.
Parking Nieuwlandplein: underground car park beneath the Nieuwlandplein in Nieuwpoort-Bad.
Always check the signs on site: rates and parking rules may change (temporarily), and local (traffic) signs take precedence.
Beach parking
The Zeedijk promenade in Nieuwpoort-Bad is car free, but these car parks are only a few minutes' walk from the sea:
Parking Promenade: underground at the eastern end of the resort by the harbour channel, about 250 metres from the Zeedijk.
Parking Nieuwlandplein: underground in the middle of Nieuwpoort-Bad, about 250 metres from the Zeedijk.
Dienstweg Havengeul car park: alongside the Prins Mauritspark on the eastern edge of Nieuwpoort-Bad, within walking distance of the Zeedijk.
A full day at the beach: in the orange zone streets 9 hours cost €6, which beats the red zone on the Albert I-laan, where you can only stay 4 hours anyway.
On the Zeedijk: you may only park there with a free ticket, for 30 minutes at most. Driving onto the promenade is only allowed between 7am and 10am with an access card, requested from the town at least a week in advance.
Border with Koksijde: the machines on the western side of the Kinderlaan fall under the parking rules of Koksijde, not those of Nieuwpoort.
Where and how can you park with a disabled parking card in Nieuwpoort?
In Nieuwpoort a disabled parking card does not let you park for free everywhere: in the paid zones only the reserved spaces are free.
Paid zones: parking in a reserved space is free; in any other space you pay the normal rate.
Blue zone: as everywhere in Belgium, you may park without a time limit and without a parking disc, as long as your card is clearly visible on the dashboard.
Displaying the card: use the original card, not a copy, and place it on the dashboard with the wheelchair symbol facing up. The holder must be driving or travelling as a passenger.
Reserved spaces: the city keeps an up-to-date list on nieuwpoort.be, and the Navigeer en Parkeer map shows them too (both in Dutch).
